How to make a lemonade shake-up...

  1. Wash one lemon.
  2. Roll the lemon firmly between a cutting board and a wooden paddle.
  3. Slice the stem end of the lemon off and throw away.
  4. Slice the lemon in half.
  5. Squeeze the juice out of one half of the lemon into the shaker.
  6. Slice the lemon half in half again and add it to the shaker.
  7. Add one-quarter cup of sugar to the shaker and fill to the top with ice.
  8. Add cold water until full.
  9. Firmly place the lid on the shaker and SHAKE...SHAKE...SHAKE until the sugar is dissolved.
  10. Pour into a drinking cup and start again.
Lemonade Shake-up Stands are a great fundraiser for the Band Parents Association. Stands are set up each summer at the Schweizerfest in Highland and at the Alhambra and Grantfork homecomings. Working the Lemonade Shake-up Stands is a fun way to spend a few hours, visit with your fellow band parents and see some old friends at the

summer's celebrations.

Usually there are six to ten band parents working each stand and so each person does one of the steps listed above repeatedly until the whole group is working like a well-oiled machine. It is easy and fun and we hope you will consider taking a turn in the process.

Summer 2008 was a profitable year for the BPA Lemonade Shake-up Stands. When the information is available for summer 2009 (dates, times, and contact information for the organizers) it will be posted right here.
